The Nonprofit and Public Service Center and the Ohio Small Business Development Center at the Lake County Port Authority at Lakeland present “Getting It Right: Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities Under ERISA” on Tuesday, September 25 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. on the college's main campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094, in Building A, room 2100.

Networking, sign-in and a continental breakfast begin at 8 a.m.

Sherry Brackney, senior benefits advisor with the U.S. Department of Labor, will explain the obligations of plan sponsors and other fiduciaries with an understanding of the law. She will also focus on the steps to take to avoid common problems that employers encounter.

Participants will learn how to:

• Understand the terms their plans
• Select and monitor service providers carefully
• Make timely contributions to fund benefits
• Avoid prohibited transactions
• Make timely disclosures to workers and their beneficiaries and reports to the government
